Our Journey

A Legacy of Commitment and Advocacy

Founded in response to the pressing welfare needs of resident doctors at the Enugu State University Teaching Hospital, ARD ESUTH has consistently evolved.
Built on passion, service, and progress our journey reflects the story of resilience and medical advancement.
The Association was established with the primary aim of promoting the interests and welfare of all resident doctors at ESUTH Parklane, Enugu. Since its inception, the Association has remained committed to supporting its members while strengthening the institution’s role in medical education, research, and healthcare excellence.
In its early years, the Association was formed to bridge the gap between resident doctors and hospital management, ensuring that doctors’ rights, welfare, and working conditions were adequately protected. At the same time, it sought to uphold the highest standards of patient care, recognizing that a well-supported doctor equals better healthcare delivery.
Over the years, ARD has grown beyond advocacy to become a pillar of academic excellence, professional development, and medical innovation within ESUTH Parklane.

The Association actively organizes seminars, workshops, clinical trainings, and scientific conferences to ensure that resident doctors remain at the cutting edge of medical knowledge and practice.
Moreover, ARD plays a strategic role in shaping healthcare policy not just within ESUTH Parklane but also across Enugu State and Nigeria at large. Through active collaboration with the National Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) and the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA), we make sure that the voice of resident doctors is heard at the national stage.
